Unfortunately Robert had trouble accessing his Google Docs\u00a0account, so he did not have access to his slides.\u00a0 <\/span>Worst part was that he didn\u2019t let the room know he was waiting to try and get on the network for the first 15 mins of the session.\u00a0 <\/span>After 15 mins, then finally mentioned to group he was waiting but was going to start without them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He feels Android will take over 3-5 years, except for iPad.\u00a0 <\/span>FAA recognizes iPad as a replacement for kneepad for flight deck.\u00a0 <\/span>Executives like iPad.\u00a0 <\/span>Those were main reasons he thinks the iPad isn\u2019t going away anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Can ask GPS<\/a> receiver 3 questions:\u00a0 <\/span>Long\/Lat\/Altitude\u00a0\u00a0You have to\u00a0<\/span>use other tools to extend after that.<\/p>\n

Get values from GPS Satellites or Network carriers triangulation . Can choose either.\u00a0 <\/span>Listen to GPS or Network.\u00a0 <\/span>90% preferable = GPS<\/p>\n

Claims that a Visual studio dev\u2019s first choice should be Android over WP7 even\u2026 Likes the dev environment and says it\u2019s easy to learn if you already do C# development.\u00a0 <\/span>This is a plus.<\/p>\n

Side frustration: he polled the room and 9 out of 10 people surveyed said that have created a Android app\u2026 yet he went painfully slow through the setup process of creating a project, setting up emulators, etc.<\/p>\n

Claims you should use Android 1.6 – Api Level 4 and all Android devices will work.\u00a0 <\/span>Also noted that every Android device will have an SD Card.<\/p>\n

Tip: When your Android app runs, your SQLLite<\/a> db is in your app folder (not SD card).\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Tip: flip from portrait to landscape views via:\u00a0 <\/span>Control F11 or F12.\u00a0 <\/span>Numeric 7 key allows you to toggle landscape\/port mode.<\/p>\n

Tip: You can setup \u201cfolder called layout-landscape\u201d if you use the same input id\u2019s\u2026 you can have two layouts and it will switch.\u00a0 <\/span>Says it\u2019s more desirable to do this, instead of having the screen resize\/etc using relative placing of elements.<\/p>\n

Tip: to get through a firewall\u2026 you can set emulator command line options with Firewall Username\/Password<\/p>\n

Tip: Emulator control window will help you be able to modify the GPS info being sent to the phone.\u00a0 <\/span>KML = google map centric format of location controls<\/p>\n

SQLLite is really a whole lot like MS Access<\/p>\n
